Arnone named among Top Ten Performances of 2015
Congratulations to Collide-O-Scope Music Artistic Director Augustus Arnone for being named to New York Classical Review's TOP TEN PERFORMANCES OF 2015. The distinction was named in regard to Arnone's solo recital of movements from Michael Finnissy's epic solo piano cycle "The History Of Photography In Sound." This performance marked the 4th and final concert in a series traversing the entire elevn movement cycle.
Collide-O-Scope Music presents "Milton Babbitt At 100"
In honor of the centenary of Milton Babbitt's birth, Collide-O-Scope Music will present an ensemble concert focused on music of the iconic American serialist, as well as music by Charles Wuorinen, Christopher Bailey, and Lou Bunk. The program will feature Babbitt's Arie Da Capo (1974), Sextets (1966), and None But The Lonely Flute (1991). The program will also feature the Trio for Piano, Flute, and Bass Clarinet (2008)by Charles Wuorinen, a composer whose aesthetic is often compared to that of Babbitt's, presenting another strong voice in the unique thread of serialism in American concert music. Finally, the program will include two works based in part on Babbitt's Sextets: Christopher Bailey's Timelash (1999), and the WORLD PREMIERE of a new duo for piano and violin by COSM co-Director Lou Bunk. Robert Morris Festival slated for Fall of 2016
In October of 2016, Collide-O-Scope Music will partner with the JACK Quartet to present a four concert festival of music by the venerable American composer Robert Morris. The concerts will be held at Spectrum, New York, and will include pre-concert discussions with the composer each night. One night will be devoted to String Quartets, one to mixed ensemble forces, one to solo piano music, and the final one to electro-acoustic installations with the composer himself performing.
Collide-O-Scope Music Forthcoming Recordings
The group is in the midst of recording music for two separate recordings to be released late 2016/early 2017. The recordings will comprise a number of solo and ensemble works written for the group by Yotam Haber, Lou Bunk, Christopher Bailey, Michael Klingbeil, and Michael Finnissy. The recordings will also feature works by Robert Morris and Charles Wuorinen.
Arnone to premiere "Brahms-Lieder," a new cycle of solo piano works written for Arnone by Michael Finnissy
April 22, 2016, COSM co-director Augustus Arnone will present the world premiere of a new cycle of piano works written for him by Michael Finnissy entitled "Brahms-Lieder" (2015). The commission of this cycle follows from the composer's participation in the Spring 2015 Festival of Finnissy's Music presented by Arnone, in conjunction with Collide-O-Scope Music, Michael Norsworthy, Daniel Beilman, and the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE).
